Raphael Maklouf
Israeli-British sculptor whose third portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appeared on UK coinage from 1985 to 1997. Maklouf's design shows the Queen wearing the George IV state diadem, with a crisper, more idealised likeness than Machin's. Spans the introduction of the £1 coin (1983 was Machin; 1985+ Maklouf), the small 10p (1992), the bimetal £2 (1997) and a wave of commemorative crowns.
