What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an outbound link to a retailer (most commonly eBay UK) that includes a tracking tag identifying MyCoinage as the source of the click. If you buy something on the destination site after following the link, the retailer pays MyCoinage a small commission. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you had visited the retailer directly — the commission is paid by the retailer out of their margin, not added to your basket.

Where MyCoinage uses affiliate links

You will see affiliate links in two contexts on the site:

  1. eBay sold-listings panels. Gold-bordered "See sold listings on eBay" cards appear on guide pages, coin pages, the Scarcity Index, the Change Hunter, browse pages, profile pages, and in our weekly email digest. The destination is always a search for sold (realised) listings — not active auctions and never asking prices. These links carry an Affiliate pill.
  2. Featured Partner cards. Some pages carry a dealer, auction-house or insurance partner card. These are paid placements (or empty slots reserved for future advertisers) and carry a Sponsored pill. The placement, copy and editorial position are agreed in advance and not subject to ongoing edits to fit any partner.

What we will never do

  • Sell editorial pricing, grading commentary, scarcity-index methodology or auction-house coverage. Our realised-price data and grading commentary is not for sale.
  • Promote a coin we know to be counterfeit, unauthenticated or actively misrepresented — sponsorship status does not override our fact-checking process.
  • Recommend a specific seller, dealer or auction house in editorial text on the basis of payment. Recommendations in editorial text are based on our own dealings and what we would tell a friend.
  • Hide a paid placement. Every Sponsored or Affiliate placement carries a visible pill on the rendered card.

Why we use them

MyCoinage is free to use, with no paywalled coin data and no charge for tracking a collection. The site is funded by affiliate commission and sponsored placements. If you find what we publish useful and you were going to buy from eBay or one of our partners anyway, clicking through from a MyCoinage link costs you nothing and helps keep the site running.

eBay Partner Network — specific details

MyCoinage is a member of the eBay Partner Network (EPN). Outbound links to eBay UK (and eBay.com for US coin pages) are tagged with our EPN identifiers so that any qualifying purchase made within eBay's attribution window is credited to MyCoinage. The eBay Partner Network is a recognised affiliate programme — full details are available at partnernetwork.ebay.co.uk.

UK ASA & CAP code compliance

This page exists to comply with the UK Advertising Standards Authority's guidance on identifying commercial content (CAP Code section 2: Recognition of marketing communications). Every affiliate placement on the site is identifiable as such through a visible label on the card — Sponsored for paid placements and Affiliate for commission-paying outbound links.

Questions or concerns?

If you spot a placement that does not feel right, or a label that is missing where you think one should be, please tell us at info@mycoinage.co.uk and we will take a look the same day. Editorial integrity is more valuable to us than any single advertiser.
