History and design

This is a collector version of the 5 Pounds - Charles III Bond Films of the 2010s. The history below is that coin's; the mintage, varieties and collecting notes on its page do not apply to this strike.

The Bond Films of the 2010s £5 is the sixth coin in the Royal Mint's Six Decades of 007 collection and the last of the six decade designs. It covers the years in which Daniel Craig led the series, and the Mint picks out Skyfall and Spectre. A completer coin showing six vehicles from the films followed it to close the seven-coin set. The series is a licensed product made with EON Productions and Danjaq.

The coin is dated 2024 and is a collector issue. The Royal Mint says £5 crowns "are intended as souvenirs rather than for everyday use", and they are not counted in its circulating mintage figures. No striking or sales number exists for this coin yet, since the Mint's commemorative sales pages end with coins dated 2023, and the Brilliant Uncirculated product page gives no issue limit.

The reverse shows the snow plane from Spectre. The Mint's range page sets the scene: Bond uses the aircraft to chase Mr Hinx down the Austrian slopes and rescue Dr Madeleine Swann. The royal proclamation describes the design as the snow plane from the film Spectre set against a background of James Bond titles with the inscription 007.

Matt Dent and Christian Davies are credited with the reverse. It keeps the layout used across the set, with the decade's film titles as the background, the 007 logo styled as it appeared in the 2010s and the gun barrel from the films' opening shot as a border.

The obverse has the portrait of Charles III by Martin Jennings and the inscription CHARLES III D G REX F D 5 POUNDS with the date. The edge is milled.
