Common questions

How much is the 2026 50 Pence - Charles III (Winnie the Pooh - Loyalty) worth?

The 2026 50 Pence - Charles III (Winnie the Pooh - Loyalty) has a price in one grade on MyCoinage so far: £17.79 in VF, the median of its verified sales.

Is there a coloured Winnie the Pooh Loyalty 50p?

Yes. The Royal Mint sold a Brilliant Uncirculated colour edition with the reverse printed in colour, in a pack with a pop-up element. It is labelled as a limited edition of 15,000, with a maximum coin mintage of 15,001. The silver proof version is also colour printed.

How rare is the Winnie the Pooh Loyalty 50p?

No sales or striking figures have been published. The plain Brilliant Uncirculated coin had no stated limit. The colour edition is capped at a maximum coin mintage of 15,001, the silver proof colour coin at 4,011 and the gold proof at 110, according to the Royal Mint's product pages.

Can you get the Winnie the Pooh Loyalty 50p in your change?

It was not issued for circulation. The Royal Mint sold it as a collector coin and its circulating mintage data lists no 2026 Winnie the Pooh 50p. The coin is legal tender under its proclamation, so a bought example could be spent, but none were supplied for general use.

What is the inscription on the Winnie the Pooh Loyalty 50p?

The reverse reads Disney WINNIE THE POOH, according to the royal proclamation. The obverse reads CHARLES III D G REX F D 50 PENCE followed by the date 2026. There is no denomination on the reverse and the edge is plain.

How do I identify the 2026 50 Pence - Charles III (Winnie the Pooh - Loyalty)?

Check the weight 8g and diameter 27.3mm and the metal (copper-nickel) against the specification table on this page. The reverse design is described above.

History and design

Loyalty is the second of the Royal Mint's three 50p coins for 100 years of Winnie the Pooh, a set dated 2026 that marks the publication of A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh in 1926. Kindness came before it and Friendship after. The collecting press reported that Loyalty was due in April 2026.

The Mint struck the base-metal coin in two forms. One is a plain Brilliant Uncirculated coin with no stated limit. The other has the reverse printed in colour and was sold as a limited edition of 15,000. Neither was issued for circulation: the coin was sold only as a collector product, and the Mint's circulating mintage data lists no 2026 Winnie the Pooh 50p. No sales figures have been published.

The reverse shows Winnie the Pooh with Christopher Robin. The wording of the royal proclamation is "a depiction of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin accompanied by the inscription Disney WINNIE THE POOH". The Royal Mint credits the artwork to The Walt Disney Company, its partner on the set, and links the theme to the loyalty Pooh shows Christopher Robin and his friends.

King Charles III's portrait by Martin Jennings is on the obverse, inscribed CHARLES III D G REX F D 50 PENCE with the date 2026. The edge is plain.

Varieties and errors

The two finishes are deliberate products, not varieties in the usual sense. The colour edition came in a pack with a pop-up element and has a maximum coin mintage of 15,001. No mint errors are documented.

Collecting notes

Tell the two cupro-nickel versions apart by the printed colour and by the packaging. Colour on the limited edition is the Mint's own printing and the coin was supplied in the pop-up pack. Colour added to a plain coin after it left the Mint does not make it the limited edition.

The other catalogue entry for this design is the Loyalty 50p. The set began with the Kindness 50p.

A silver proof with colour, with a maximum coin mintage of 4,011, and a 22 carat gold proof, with a maximum of 110, share the design. These are ceilings set at launch, not totals sold.
