Common questions

How much is the 2026 50 Pence - Charles III (Winnie the Pooh - Friendship) worth?

The 2026 50 Pence - Charles III (Winnie the Pooh - Friendship) has a price in one grade on MyCoinage so far: £17.79 in VF, the median of its verified sales.

Is there a coloured Winnie the Pooh Friendship 50p?

Yes. The Royal Mint sold a Brilliant Uncirculated colour edition with the reverse printed in colour, in a pack with a pop-up element. It is labelled as a limited edition of 15,000, with a maximum coin mintage of 15,001. The silver proof version is also colour printed.

How rare is the Winnie the Pooh Friendship 50p?

No sales or striking figures have been published. The plain Brilliant Uncirculated coin had no stated limit. The colour edition is capped at a maximum coin mintage of 15,001, the silver proof colour coin at 4,011 and the gold proof at 110, according to the Royal Mint's product pages.

When was the Winnie the Pooh Friendship 50p released?

It went on sale on Thursday 11 June 2026, according to a Press Association report of the launch. It was the third and final coin in the Royal Mint's 2026 set for 100 years of Winnie the Pooh, following the Kindness and Loyalty coins.

Can you get the Winnie the Pooh Friendship 50p in your change?

It was not issued for circulation. The Royal Mint sold it as a collector coin and its circulating mintage data lists no 2026 Winnie the Pooh 50p. The proclamation makes the coin legal tender, so a bought example could be spent, but none were supplied for general use.

How do I identify the 2026 50 Pence - Charles III (Winnie the Pooh - Friendship)?

Check the weight 8g and diameter 27.3mm and the metal (copper-nickel) against the specification table on this page. The reverse design is described above.

History and design

Friendship is the last of three 50p coins the Royal Mint issued in 2026 with The Walt Disney Company for 100 years of Winnie the Pooh, counted from the publication of A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh in 1926. A Press Association report put its launch on Thursday 11 June 2026 and named Brilliant Uncirculated colour and silver proof colour editions.

The base-metal coin exists in two forms. One is a plain Brilliant Uncirculated coin with no stated limit. The other has the reverse printed in colour and was sold as a limited edition of 15,000. Neither was issued for circulation: the Mint's circulating mintage data lists no 2026 Winnie the Pooh 50p, and no sales figures have been published.

Four characters share the reverse. The royal proclamation gives it as "a depiction of Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore accompanied by the inscription Disney WINNIE THE POOH", and the Royal Mint credits the artwork to The Walt Disney Company. The Mint's theme for the coin is the friendship Pooh shows to all those he meets.

King Charles III's portrait by Martin Jennings is on the obverse, inscribed CHARLES III D G REX F D 50 PENCE with the date 2026. The edge is plain.

Varieties and errors

The two finishes are deliberate products, not varieties in the usual sense. The colour edition came in a pack with a pop-up element and has a maximum coin mintage of 15,001. No mint errors are documented.

Collecting notes

Tell the two cupro-nickel versions apart by the printed colour and by the packaging. Colour on the limited edition is the Mint's own printing and the coin was supplied in the pop-up pack. Colour added to a plain coin after it left the Mint does not make it the limited edition.

The other catalogue entry for this design is the Friendship 50p. The set began with the Kindness 50p.

A silver proof with colour, with a maximum coin mintage of 4,011, and a 22 carat gold proof, with a maximum of 110, share the design. These are ceilings set at launch, not totals sold.
