Check the weight 8g and diameter 27.3mm and the metal (copper-nickel) against the specification table on this page. The reverse design is described above.

History and design

The Loyalty 50p is the middle coin of three that the Royal Mint issued in 2026 for the centenary of A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh, first published in 1926. The set was made in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company and gives each coin a theme: Kindness, then Loyalty, then Friendship. According to the collecting press, Loyalty was due for release in April 2026.

Christopher Robin has been on a 50p before. The Royal Mint's design list includes a Christopher Robin coin among the nine Winnie the Pooh designs dated 2020 to 2022, but those carry Queen Elizabeth II's portrait and different artwork.

This is a collector coin. It was sold as a Brilliant Uncirculated strike, no release into circulation has been announced, and the Mint's circulating mintage data lists no 2026 Winnie the Pooh 50p. No sales figure has been published.

The royal proclamation describes the reverse as "a depiction of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin accompanied by the inscription Disney WINNIE THE POOH". The Royal Mint credits the design to The Walt Disney Company without naming an artist, and says the coin celebrates the loyalty Pooh displays towards Christopher Robin and his friends.

The obverse has the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, with CHARLES III D G REX F D 50 PENCE and the date 2026. The denomination appears only on that side. The edge is plain.

Varieties and errors

The Royal Mint also sold the cupro-nickel coin with the reverse printed in colour, in a pack with a pop-up element, as a limited edition of 15,000. No mint errors are documented.

Collecting notes

The plain coin should be a Brilliant Uncirculated example in its Royal Mint pack. The Mint also offered all three coins together as a collection, so Loyalty is often found alongside the Kindness 50p and the Friendship 50p. Check any loose coin for handling marks.

The silver proof version is colour printed and presented in an acrylic block, with a maximum coin mintage of 4,011. The 22 carat gold proof has a maximum of 110. Both figures are ceilings set at launch, not totals sold.
