How many Winnie the Pooh Friendship 50p coins were made?

No figure has been published for the plain Brilliant Uncirculated coin, which had no stated limit. The Royal Mint's product pages give maximum coin mintages of 15,001 for the colour edition, 4,011 for the silver proof colour coin and 110 for the gold proof.

Who designed the Winnie the Pooh Friendship 50p?

It is the third and final coin in the Royal Mint's 2026 collection for 100 years of Winnie the Pooh, after Kindness and Loyalty. The Mint's design list also records nine earlier Winnie the Pooh 50p coins dated 2020 to 2022.

History and design

The Friendship 50p completed the Royal Mint's three-coin set for the centenary of Winnie the Pooh, which marks 100 years since A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh was published in 1926. It followed the Kindness and Loyalty coins and went on sale on 11 June 2026, according to a Press Association report of the launch.

That report quoted Lucy Mackenzie, a director at the Royal Mint, who said it felt "incredibly fitting" to end the collection with "the enduring theme of friendship at the heart of the stories". The set was made in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company.

The coin was launched as a collectible and sold by the Royal Mint. No release into circulation has been announced, the Mint's circulating mintage data lists no 2026 Winnie the Pooh 50p, and no sales figure has been published.

The royal proclamation describes the reverse as "a depiction of Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore accompanied by the inscription Disney WINNIE THE POOH". The Royal Mint credits the design to The Walt Disney Company and names no artist. It describes the theme as the friendship Pooh shows to all those he meets along the way.

The obverse has the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, with CHARLES III D G REX F D 50 PENCE and the date 2026, so the denomination is on the King's side. The edge is plain.

Varieties and errors

The Royal Mint sold a second cupro-nickel version with the reverse printed in colour, in a pack with a pop-up element, as a limited edition of 15,000. No mint errors are documented.

Collecting notes

A plain Friendship 50p should be a Brilliant Uncirculated coin in its Royal Mint pack. As the last of the three, it is the coin that completes a set begun with the Kindness 50p and continued with the Loyalty 50p, and the Mint sold the three together as a collection. Check loose coins for handling marks.

The silver proof version is colour printed and presented in an acrylic block, with a maximum coin mintage of 4,011. The 22 carat gold proof has a maximum of 110. Both figures are ceilings set at launch, not totals sold.
