History and design
Alongside the Monopoly 50p sold from its website in 2025, the Royal Mint made a second Monopoly design that could only be obtained in person. Its launch release said that from 30 September 2025 visitors to the Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, South Wales, would be able to strike their own Monopoly 50p, and that this coin would carry "a different and more simplified design".
Both coins mark 90 years of the board game, which the Mint dates to its official introduction in 1935, and both were made in collaboration with Hasbro. Neither was issued for circulation. The Royal Mint's circulating mintage figures list only the Atlantic Salmon 50p for 2025.
No figure for the number struck has been published. The Mint's Strike Your Own sales page stops at the end of 2023.
The reverse is by Emma Noble, a coin designer at the Royal Mint. The Mint says it "heroes Mr. Monopoly leaping over the GO sign". A royal proclamation of June 2025 authorised a cupro-nickel 50p with "a depiction of the character Mr. Monopoly accompanied by the Monopoly logo", a design it lists for the base metal coin only.
The obverse carries Martin Jennings' portrait of King Charles III with the inscription CHARLES III D G REX F D 50 PENCE and the date 2025. The edge is plain.

Tell it from the standard Monopoly 50p by the reverse. Bella Biggs' design for the standard coin is crowded with game pieces and carries the words 90 YEARS OF. This one is the plainer of the two.
The proclamation provides for this design in cupro-nickel only, so there are no silver or gold versions to look for. The Mint's launch release offered it only to visitors striking their own coin, not as a product on its website.
A coin struck by a visitor has had more handling than one sealed in a pack at the Mint, so check for fingerprints and contact marks on the fields.
